MJT Law specialises in employment law and advice, serving businesses and employees across Brisbane, Australia and Worldwide. Founded in 2014, our mission was to provide top-tier expertise alongside the personal service of a boutique practice, for all areas of employment and labour law.
We are a tight-knit team of highly motivated professionals, working hard to deliver “advice that’s right for you”. Our culture embodies that mission through our core values, which filter through our work.
The Australian commercial landscape is diverse with multinationals, SME’s and owner operators. Our clients are in businesses, or employed in businesses, in all of these sectors. Our work and values have been recognised through accolades such as the Doyles Guide awards and various client testimonials.
After graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) I then completed my Masters of Law (LLM) with Queensland University of Technology. In 2014 I opened MJT Law that is thriving today. I have a number of interests including bike riding and beekeeping. I have two cats and four native Australian beehives.
My cats, Chewy and Schrodinger come to the office each day with me and their favourite activity is paying fetch and riding in the pet trailer I use to bring my cats to work most days. Like most New Zealander’s I love being outdoors and when my husband I go canoeing we bring our cats along for the ride.
I have lived in 11 countries and visited many more, I believe in the right to have proper legal representation and have incorporated this view into MJT Law through our pro bono work. Our pro bono practice saw hundreds of clients and gave away over $100,000 of free legal advice in 2018/2019.
After graduating from the Queensland University of Technology, I was admitted as a legal practitioner in April 2019. Following my admission, I practiced in the area of family law and gained extensive experience in working closely with clients to resolve their issues. I pride myself on my ability to empathise with clients or their businesses and my determination to achieve the best outcome possible. In 2020 I joined MJT Law and am excited to work within a team that is committed and dedicated to providing outstanding legal services.
I was born in South Africa but my background is Portuguese with much of my family being born there. I still visit my family in Madeira, Portugal and hope to continue to visit this beautiful slice of paradise.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending my time enjoying the great outdoors. My weekends are spent either in my boat fishing with friends or on the back of my motorbike.
Throughout my 5 years with the firm, I have watched it grow from a two man show – where Melanie and I would run around like headless chooks trying to do a job fit for 5 people – to what it is now. As it continues to grow I cannot help but be proud of what we have achieved together and I cannot wait to see what it grows into. It is an honour to be working with a team of dedicated individuals providing quality legal services.
I am from Bosnia & Hercegovina, a beautiful country located in the Balkans. Much like the country’s traditions I am family orientated, loyal, passionate and reliable. In my professional life, I always give 110% even on the days where I would rather give 20%. I am dedicated to all of our clients, whether they be an international corporation or an individual struggling to make ends meet. I enjoy dabbling in the legal work, given my experience as a Paralegal, but I love crunching numbers, formulating strategies and building relationships with clients.
Although I was born here in Australia my background is Bosnian, with my whole family coming from there. This has allowed me to learn a second language by being brought up in a bilingual household.
I have been working at MJT Law as a Legal Secretary and Social Media Manager for over two years now , while also studying at University. I am studying a Bachelor of Business degree – majoring in Event Management. I am currently in my third year and am thoroughly enjoying it.
A big interest of mine is travelling to different countries, learning about their cultures and how they live their everyday life. I hope to continue doing that throughout my life and potentially even moving abroad later down the track.
